President Donald Trump: I’ve given Russia nothing but pain

Washington, DC: President Donald Trump criticized previous US presidents for their handling of Moscow’s “expansionist” moves when Russia “got” Georgia and a large submarine base, and “even tried to get the whole Ukraine.” He said that Russia “got nothing except grief” throughout his administration.

Trump compared his stance on Russia to that of other US presidents during an announcement on investments. He said that Russia seized Georgia under President George W. Bush and that Russia obtained a sizable submarine base and territory for its armed forces under President Barack Obama.

He attacked the way former President Joe Biden handled the matter, claiming that Biden allowed Russia to try to annex all of Ukraine.

Georgia was given to Russia under President Bush. They have a good, large submarine base, a nice, large piece of land where they keep their submarines, under President Obama. Under President Biden, they attempted to get the whole thing, whereas under President Trump, they received nothing. They attempted to capture all of Ukraine. They would have received the whole thing if I hadn’t entered,” Trump said.

“I gave Russia nothing but grief,” Trump continued. Since many individuals are being murdered who shouldn’t be killed, we must come to an agreement. But keep in mind that whereas the previous presidents gave them a lot, Trump offered them nothing. They provided him with everything.

Trump said that if all parties involved—including European countries—are open to negotiations, a compromise between Russia and Ukraine should be achievable.

He emphasized that having everyone on board to reach an agreement is crucial. “It takes two to tango, and if you are going to have to make a deal with Russia and Ukraine, you are going to have to have the assent and the consent from the European nations,” he said.

Such an agreement might be made “very fast,” he noted, adding that if one party is hesitant to engage in negotiations, they may not hold onto power for very long. “Maybe somebody doesn’t want to make a deal and if somebody doesn’t want to make a deal, I think that person won’t be around very long,” Trump said.

“Because I think Russia is interested in selling. The Ukrainian people, in my opinion, are undoubtedly interested in reaching an agreement. More than anybody else, they have endured,” he said.

Trump had earlier posted on Truth Social that “Europe has spent more money buying Russian oil and gas than they have spent on defending Ukraine—BY FAR!”
