West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer refutes CM Mamata Banerjee’s claims of election rigging

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s accusation of voting rigging has been denied by West Bengal’s chief electoral officer. The CEO of West Bengal wrote on X and said, “As per RP Act 1950, Registration of Electors Rules 1960 and Manual on Electoral Rolls, concerned BLOs, AEROs, EROs, DEOs and CEOs in any State/UT work for the updation of Electoral Rolls.”

Booth-level agents, who are chosen by political parties, actively participate in this. The CEO said that any particular claims or concerns must be presented first to the 80,633 BLOs, 3,049 AEROs, and 294 EROs in West Bengal.

Mamata Banerjee established a committee on Thursday to examine the voter lists in each West Bengal district for any anomalies.

She said that in order to rig elections in Delhi and Maharashtra, the BJP inserted phony people on the voter list and that they were attempting the same ruse in West Bengal.

“They have made a phony voter list online while seated in the Election Commissioner’s office, and they have added phony voters in every district of West Bengal,” claimed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. They have used this tactic to win elections in Maharashtra and Delhi. Maharashtra’s opposition was unable to learn these truths. Gujarat and Haryana are home to the majority of the phony voters. Bengali culture gave birth to independence, and the BJP is using the EC’s approval to manipulate the voter list.

She also urged Bengali citizens to review the voter list.

“The NRC and CAA have the right to erase the real names at any time. It has two primary goals. The first is to beat TMC and take the names off the list. With the EC’s consent, this is being carried out. Pay attention to data operators. TMC is at the grassroots level, if anybody is. We need to do better in the 2026 Assembly elections, and the voter’s list would be the first place to start. The booth level is where this must be completed. This would have to be handled by the district president,” she said.

She said that a core committee, panchayat council members, and an IT media unit would be established in order to get the voter list.
