Jammu and Kashmir: Temperature drops drastically after 36 hours of continuous rain and snowfall in Doda and Bhalesa districts
Doda: District Doda and Bhalesa have reported experiencing heavy snowfall. For the last 36 hours, the area has been battered by constant rain and snow, which has caused the temperature to drop significantly.

It’s interesting to note that local farmers have expressed gratitude for the snowfall, which is uncommon in the area. Farmers and orchardists had been worried about possible financial losses from previous snowfall, but the current period seems to be helping them.
After a protracted dry period, the Rajouri district also saw much-needed rainwater.
While the lower regions of the Pir Panjal mountain range had showers, the upper regions saw new snowfall.
After a protracted dry spell, Rajouri’s rivers are now flowing again thanks to the rains. It is anticipated that the weather shift would replenish groundwater supplies and provide much-needed respite to farmers and locals who are facing dry conditions.
Lahaul and Spiti, which are experiencing a new round of intense snowfall, are also covered in a thick layer of snow.
On Thursday, February 28, the Lahaul and Spiti Police issued an avalanche notice for the area.
According to the press release, the advice cautioned residents and visitors to use care and limit their movement to approved safe routes since certain harsh slopes have the potential to create medium-sized avalanches.
As to the DGRE and HPSDMA, District Lahaul & Spiti is under a snow avalanche warning (Danger Level 3, Orange) till February 28, 2025, at 1700 hours IST (enclosed). Restricting movement to only safe routes is suggested, since the advice states that medium-sized avalanche triggering may occur on a few severe slopes.
Between February 26 and 28, an orange warning was issued in four districts of Himachal Pradesh in addition to Jammu & Kashmir. Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi are among the districts that may have a lot of rain or snowfall.
