Congress Leader Udit Raj: Kejriwal is destined to go to Tihar jail

New Delhi: In response to rumors that Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), may run for a Rajya Sabha seat, Congress leader Udit Raj said that this action would not shield him from accusations and asserted that he was “destined” to end up in Tihar prison.

Raj said in an interview with the media report, “He has been an activist from the start… He won’t be able to get away with the charges against him, in my opinion. It is quite certain that he will end up in Tihar Prison, even if he visits the Rajya Sabha. He ought to try to rehabilitate the inmates there and take over as the institution’s chief minister.

Following the AAP’s nomination of incumbent Rajya Sabha MP Sanjiv Arora as its candidate for the Ludhiana West assembly by-election, speculation over Kejriwal’s Rajya Sabha ambition surfaced, with some questioning if the vacant seat may go to the AAP convenor.

Anurag Thakur, a BJP MP, charged Kejriwal of being the “kingpin” of the liquor scandal and attempting to join the Rajya Sabha via the “backdoor.”

“I only want to state that the 14 CAG reports were not allowed to be presented before the Vidhan Sabha. Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP wanted to ensure that their wrongdoing remained hidden from the public and unspoken. This has now been shown to the world and is on the Delhi Assembly’s agenda.

We would present the report whenever we take power (in Delhi), as PM Modi had promised, and CM Rekha Gupta has done just that. It is now evident that Arvind Kejriwal is the mastermind behind the liquor fraud. He is trying to infiltrate the Rajya Sabha via the back door and forcing his Rajya Sabha MPs to leave their homes in order to preserve face,” Thakur told the media report.

He further said that Kejriwal was controlling the Punjab administration from a distance.

“So, I would like to ask the people of Punjab: do you want Arvind Kejriwal, who runs the state government through remote control, as an MP from Punjab?” he said.
