Mithun Chakraborty reacted strongly to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s comment about Maha Kumbh

Kolkata: In response to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s comments about the Maha Kumbh, actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mithun Chakraborty has strongly stated that her claims are untrue, citing the fact that 70 crore people attended and took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, demonstrating the enormous influence of Sanatana Dharma.

“Her statements are incorrect. Is it wrong that 70 crore people have come here to take a holy dip? … People have seen Sanatan Dharam’s potency,” Mithun said.

On Tuesday, Mamata Banerjee had already said that the assertion that Maha Kumbh will come after 144 years was false.

144 years from now, Mahakumbh will arrive. This is incorrect. Please correct me if I’m mistaken. The punya snan (holy dip) system, as I understand it, occurs annually. The Gangasagar Mela is really something we organize. I am aware of the holy dip because of this,” she said.

Although it is the “Mrityu Kumbh” today, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee already said that she respects the Maha Kumbh.

‘Mrityu Kumbh’ is this. I venerate the sacred Ganga Maa and Mahakumbh. However, no planning is in place. How many individuals have been brought back to health? “I said,” she said.

The West Bengal chief minister defended her comments on Maha Kumbh on Tuesday, stating that she was referring to the event’s preparations. Without preparation, she added, people will suffer.

Banerjee also insisted that the relatives of those killed in the Maha Kumbh stampede get compensation from the Uttar Pradesh government, which was headed by Yogi Adityanath.

“I appreciate pilgrims who took a sacred plunge in Mahakumbh, but I never mentioned them. There, I’m referring to the system and preparedness. Without preparation, people will suffer. She urged the Yogi administration to provide compensation to the victims of the Mahakumbh tragedy in 2025.
