The district collector, superintendent of police, fire services department, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), and irrigation authorities were instructed by CM Reddy to get to the scene and begin relief efforts right away, according to a statement released by the CMO.

On the CM’s orders, irrigation officials, advisor Adityanath Das, and irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy departed for the accident scene in a special chopper.

CM Reddy was also criticized by BRS working president KT Rama Rao, who said that the latter ought to be held accountable for the mishap.

“Revanth Reddy, the state chief minister, needs to accept full responsibility for the SLBC tunnel catastrophe. The failure of the Congress administration is shown by the fact that another catastrophe struck the state prior to the Sunkishala retaining wall collapse, KTR said in a post on X.

He further claimed that managers’ avoidance and collaboration with contractors are to blame for these mishaps.

“Collusion with contractors, avoidance of oversight in the pursuit of commissions, and a total compromise on quality standards are the reasons for this string of occurrences. Rescue efforts should be conducted on a war footing to securely evacuate everyone trapped inside during this roof collapse disaster,” his message said.

“To avoid such tragedies in the future, the state government should ensure that the work is done as per the rules and regulations without getting in the way of the commissions,” he added, urging the government to adhere to the established construction guidelines. What would the Congress leaders say about the string of failures during their administration, since they created a commotion when one pillar in a barrage fell during the Kaleshwaram project?

He also insisted that the issue be looked into.

“The government, which hid the facts to protect the contractor in the Sunkishala accident, should at least conduct a transparent investigation into the SLBC incident and reveal the causes of the accident,” he said.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, meanwhile, also expressed dismay at the SLBC tunnel tragedy and gave the authorities instructions to rescue anybody who was stuck within.

A portion of the state’s Nagarkurnool district’s Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapsed earlier today.
