90 thousand prisoners of Uttar Pradesh were given a chance to take a holy bath in Maha Kumbh
Lucknow: With authorities bringing in part of the holy water of Triveni Sangam to the jails of different towns in Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Aligarh, over 90,000 prisoners housed in 75 prisons across Uttar Pradesh were given the opportunity to take the holy bath of Mahakumbh.
Officials claim that the Sangam Triveni water was combined with ordinary water and kept in little tanks so that the prisoners may pray and take the holy bath within the jail.
Approximately 90,000 prisoners were given the opportunity to take the holy bath, according to Dara Singh Chauhan, the minister of prisons for Uttar Pradesh, who was present at the ceremony in Lucknow.
“UP is the first state where this department (prison department) has done this (bringing holy water to prisoners), the minister told ANI on Friday. “The people outside can go there at any time, but those who are imprisoned despite their faith have a compulsion that they cannot get out of the four walls… with the support of all the senior and junior officers of our jail, about 90,000 prisoners prisoners of Uttar Pradesh.”.
“The inmates themselves asked for this event so that they can become ‘full partners’ of Sanatan by taking the dip,” he said.
“Prisoners themselves have expressed their desire for this, stating that while outsiders are taking part by visiting the Sangam after bathing and studying, we also think that we want to dip into the Sanatan Confluence and become full partners.” The detainees were seen bringing the matki’ containing the holy water to be mixed in, according to images from Aligarh jail.
Brijendra Singh Yadav, the superintendent of Aligarh’s jail, told the media report that the state government ordered the “snan parv” to be held and that prisoners of all faiths are eagerly participating in it.
Because the prison inmates are unable to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela, a snan parv’ was arranged for them following the directives of the state government and jail management. In order to allow them to take a holy plunge, it was agreed to carry water from the Maha Kumbh to the jail. The superintendent told ANI that even Muslim prisoners are enthusiastically participating in the “snan parv.”
According to Ayodhya’s prison superintendent, Uday Pratap Mishra, around 757 inmates took part in the “snan” that was organized.
“With the water brought from the Maha Kumbh, all of the jail’s prisoners took ‘snan.’. ” The prison authorities made this choice,” Mishra told the media reports, “and all 757 of the detainees took ‘snan’ without any distinctions. They all took it with the goal of cleansing their brains.
