US President Donald Trump announces his decision to remove remaining “Biden-Era” US attorneys

Washington, DC: Citing the “politicization” of the Department of Justice during the previous four years, US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that he would be firing all remaining “Biden Era” US attorneys. Trump emphasized the need to “clean house” and rebuild trust in the legal system, claiming that the prosperity of America’s “golden age” depends on a just legal system.

He said that the US court system will enter a new age of justice and honesty as a result of this move.

Trump shared a tweet on the social networking site Truth Social, saying, “The Department of Justice has become more politicized than ever in the last four years. I have thus directed that all remaining ‘Biden Era’ US Attorneys be fired. We need to “clean house” right now and rebuild trust. A just justice system is essential for America’s Golden Age, and it must start now.

According to several people familiar with the situation, CNN reported that Denise Cheung, the top criminal prosecutor in the US Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC, resigned on Tuesday after refusing to open a grand jury investigation that she considered premature, as requested by her Trump-appointed superiors.

President Donald Trump nominated Ed Martin to be the permanent US Attorney for Washington, DC, and Emil Bove, the acting deputy attorney general, gave him the order.

In order to use DOJ authority to suspend the funds, Cheung, a longtime DOJ officer, had been requested to lead an inquiry into a financial decision made by the Environmental Protection Agency under the Biden administration.

“Earlier yesterday, I was asked to review documentation supplied by the Office of the Deputy Attorney General to open a criminal investigation into whether a contract had been unlawfully awarded by an executive agency before the change in administration and to issue grand jury subpoenas pursuant to this investigation,” Cheung wrote in a letter of resignation to Martin on Tuesday that CNN obtained.
