Israel “strongly condemns” desecration of Israeli flag at entrance of Jordan Bar Association

Tel Aviv: Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Oren Marmorstein “strongly” condemned the desecration of the Israeli flag at the Bar Association’s entrance by Walid Al-Adwan, the deputy head of the Jordanian Bar Association, as reported this week and circulated on social media.

On the floor of the door, Al-Adwan hung an Israeli flag and said that “anyone entering must step on it.”

Marmorstein described it as an “act of incitement that is inconsistent with the spirit of the peace agreement between the two countries.”

Israel anticipates that the Jordanian government will denounce the occurrence and take steps to stop such incidents in the future.

Marmorstein went on to say, “The lack of condemnation from the Jordanian authorities is concerning.” He described this as an act of hate that might “damage mutual trust and cooperation between the countries” and perhaps result in violent crimes against Israeli residents.

The Jordanian Embassy in Israel received a formal complaint from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighting the need to prevent future occurrences of this kind.
