Haryana Minister Mahipal Dhanda: BJP is fully prepared for the upcoming municipal elections
Chandigarh: Mahipal Dhanda, the minister of Haryana, has said that he is certain the BJP is ready for the next Haryana municipal elections. As a cadre-based party, he added, the BJP has been putting in a lot of effort to meet public expectations, and Dhanda thinks they would do so again in the municipal elections.

He further emphasized that winning these important elections would depend heavily on the party’s history of keeping its word.
“The BJP is a party founded on cadres, and we are ready for the local elections. We have been exceeding the public’s expectations, and we will continue to do so in this local election as well. We’ve delivered on our commitments to the public. The triple-engine administration will accelerate growth when we win the municipal elections,” he said.
A pivotal BJP core meeting was convened on February 5 to deliberate on key choices pertaining to the next Haryana Municipal Corporation elections.
Following the meeting, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini spoke to the media, saying, “The meeting resulted in a number of important decisions pertaining to the municipal elections. Starting on February 11 and lasting until February 17, the nominating procedure will take place. Additionally, we’ve made the decision to establish a committee tasked with choosing candidates for the municipal corporation elections.”
Udai Bhan, the president of the Haryana Congress, has expressed reservations over the usage of electronic voting machines (EVMs), questioned why the results were not announced sooner, and called for the Scheduled Caste (SC) population to be properly represented.
“Like in Uttarakhand, we have called for ballot papers to be used in elections rather than electronic voting machines. “Ballot papers should be used as permitted by law, as EVMs are being questioned and cases have been registered due to doubts on their authenticity in every state election,” he added.
“Secondly, the counting of votes for all local body elections takes place on the day of the election itself, so why are the results of Haryana Municipal Corporation elections being kept after 10 days?” he said, voicing worries over the counting delay.
The results of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Elections, which are set for March 2, 2025, will be announced on March 12 of the same year.
