Priyanka Gandhi criticized Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech in Parliament
New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi, a Congresswoman and Wayanad MP, attacked Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech in Parliament on Tuesday, calling her “living on a different planet” for asserting that neither prices nor unemployment had increased.

“I’m not sure which planet she’s on. As they left the Parliament after the house procedures were over, the Wayanad MP informed reporters, “She is saying there is no inflation, there is no rise in unemployment, and there is no rise in prices.”
Her comments follow Sitharaman’s Rajya Sabha address in which she emphasized the budget’s emphasis on making India a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, with a particular focus on areas like rural development, MSMEs, and agriculture.
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, brother and sister, departed the Parliament together for the day. Because Guru Ravidas Jayanti is tomorrow, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will convene on Thursday, February 13.
In her Rajya Sabha speech earlier today, she emphasized the budget’s primary objective, which is to establish a “futuristic path for transforming India into a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.”
With an emphasis on “Garib, Youth, Annadata, and Nari,” the budget introduces new programs and reforms in the areas of rural development, agriculture, MSMEs, investments, exports, creating jobs, promoting domestic consumption, and more.
“The Union Budget aims to wisely strike a balance between the country’s financial needs and development ambitions.
Indirect tax under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has decreased dramatically in the years since it was put into effect, according to FM Sitharaman.
According to her, the average tax under the former indirect tax system was 15.8%; under the GST, it is currently 11.3%.
In his response to a query posed by West Bengal MP Nadimul Haque of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Sitharaman emphasized the gradual decline in GST rates.
“Previously, a 15.8% tax on common items might have been imposed without further burdening the buyer or customer. If that was the rate when the GST rates were introduced, they have since dropped to 11.3%. That is the extent of the rate drop that has taken place inside the GST Council,” she said.
