The minister emphasized the substantial assistance that the United Arab Emirates has given Yemen’s civil aviation industry, especially in the form of airport rehabilitation in liberated regions, which has directly aided in the reopening and regular functioning of several airports.

He told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the ICAO Global Implementation Sponsorship Symposium 2025 that one of the main reasons Yemen’s aviation industry has recovered is UAE sponsorship. The minister also said that the Yemeni government only operates three planes at the moment, with intentions to add a fourth in April. In order to accommodate passengers’ requests, there are also directions to increase the fleet.

He said that Yemenia Airways, the national airline, would collaborate with three private sector investment firms that are now in the qualifying stage to develop the nation’s aviation industry.

The minister said that in order to improve the aviation industry’s capacity to meet upcoming difficulties, a strategic aircraft maintenance project has already been initiated and the Yemeni government is working to reopen domestic airports. He reiterated Yemen’s determination to build its national airline to its highest potential in the near future.

According to the ministry, there are now six airports operating in freed areas: Aden Airport, Seiyun Airport, Riyan Airport in Hadramout, Socotra Airport, and Ataq Airport. Furthermore, it is anticipated that Mocha Airport on the western coast would soon be operational.
