According to Malhotra, “Delhi’s chief minister will be decided by the legislative party meeting and parliamentary board decision; he can be anyone; he will be a BJP worker…”

“Arvind Kejriwal can do whatever he wants, but the people of Delhi have given their mandate,” he remarked, making fun of the AAP and its leader. The people in Delhi changed the AAP because they accomplished nothing. Punjab is experiencing a similar situation, where they are also not meeting expectations.

Atishi, the departing chief minister, resigned at Raj Niwas in the meanwhile. She was reminded by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena that he had warned the administration on a number of public interest problems, most notably the Yamuna River’s cleanliness.

A new BJP-led administration was established in the nation’s capital when Saxena disbanded the Seventh Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi in response to the election results.

In the February 8 assembly elections in Delhi, the BJP won a two-thirds majority with a resounding victory. Significant defeats were experienced by the governing AAP, which saw a sharp decline in its representation in the 70-member legislature. The Congress’s poor election performance persisted.

After 27 years, the BJP returned to power in Delhi with a historic mandate that saw it win 48 seats. While departing Chief Minister Atishi was able to cling onto her seat, some AAP politicians, including previous Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, lost in their strongholds.

The Congress, which was expecting a comeback, lost all of its seats. The party, which dominated Delhi for 15 years starting in 1998, received a zero in the assembly elections for the third time in a row.
