Martin reiterated that no one is above the law, emphasized the significance of holding responsible those who “abuse American taxpayer dollars” or threaten public employees, and repeated his willingness to look into any unethical activity.
“Thank you for the referral of individuals and networks who appear to be stealing government property and/or threatening government employees,” said the Department of Justice letter that Musk posted on X. As is my custom, I will start an investigation after receiving your reference.
“Please allow me to restate: if individuals are found to have violated the law or even just behaved unethically, we will look into it and pursue them to the end of the world to hold them accountable,” the letter said. We won’t stop or relax in this. American taxpayer workers and American taxpayer money should never be misused. Nobody is exempt from the law.
“I am proud that we have been able to assist local law enforcement in protecting the DOGE workers and others over the past week or so,” Martin said in his letter to Musk. For President Trump and all of us, a safe Washington is a top concern. Please stay in contact and keep sending me issues as soon as you can.”
According to The Hill, Elon Musk’s announcement that he would rehire Marko Elez, a former employee of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), who had previously been sacked for tweeting racist remarks, has sparked a new controversy in the US.
After many racist messages from a now-deleted account were made public by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Elez resigned on Thursday (US local time), according to The Hill. According to reports, one tweet from September said, “Normalize Indian hate,” while another wrote, “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity.”
“Bring back @DOGE staffer who made inappropriate statements via a now-deleted pseudonym?” was the question Elon Musk posed in an X poll. which 78 percent of respondents said “yes.”
