Washington, DC: In a shocking declaration that set the world on fire, US President Donald Trump said that the US will occupy the Gaza Strip, remove lethal weaponry, demolish the damaged structures, and promote regional economic growth.

Trump also confirmed that the current ceasefire-hostage agreement between Israel and Hamas will be the start of a more comprehensive and long-lasting peace at a joint news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The United States will occupy the Gaza Strip, and we will work there. It will belong to us, and we will be in charge of removing the damaged structures and all of the hazardous unexploded bombs and other weapons from the area. At the news conference, Trump said, “Create an economic development that will supply an infinite number of jobs and housing for the people of the area.”

“I’m optimistic that this ceasefire may mark the start of a more comprehensive and long-lasting peace that will put an end to the killing and slaughter for good. “My administration has been taking swift action to rebuild American strength throughout the region and restore trust in the alliance with the same objective in mind,” he said.

The US President also declared that the US would no longer be participating in the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which was heavily criticized for alleged ties to Hamas, and the “anti-Semitic” UN Human Rights Council.

To reduce Iran’s ability to “fund terror” and drive its oil exports to zero, he warned, the US would impose the “most aggressive possible sanctions” on the country.

“I’m also happy to report that the United States terminated all of its assistance for the UN Relief and Works Agency, which was very unfaithful to mankind and funneled money to Hamas, and withdrew from the anti-Semitic UN Human Rights Council this afternoon. In order to reinstate our maximum pressure approach on the Iranian government, I also took action today. And we will once again impose the harshest sanctions we can, cut off all Iranian oil exports, and reduce the regime’s ability to finance terrorism in the area and beyond,” Trump said.

Trump said earlier in the day that he sees a future in Gaza where Palestinians are mainly excluded. In addition, he emphasized the need for establishing “great stability” in the Middle East, saying that “everyone loves” the concept of the United States controlling “that piece of land,” which he referred to as the Gaza Strip.

In the Oval Office, Trump said, “I don’t think people should be going back to Gaza,” as CNN reported. “I’ve heard that they have had a lot of bad luck in Gaza. They lead hellish lives. They act as if they are in hell. People should not be living in Gaza, and the only reason they want to return—and I really believe this—is because they have nowhere else to go.”

“I do see a long-term ownership position, and I see it bringing great stability to that part of the Middle East, and maybe the entire Middle East,” Trump said to reporters in the White House’s East Room. “This was not a decision made lightly,” he subsequently said. Everyone I’ve spoken to is thrilled about the prospect of the US acquiring that property, developing it, and generating thousands of jobs with something really amazing.”

Netanyahu met with the US president Tuesday (local time), becoming the first foreign leader to visit the US since Trump returned to the White House.

Notably, US President Trump has previously made similar claims about the Gaza Strip.

He proposed “cleaning up” the whole Gaza Strip last month and mentioned the possibility of relocating Palestinians to other nearby nations.

Trump claimed that in a phone chat on Saturday, he urged Jordan’s Abdullah II, a significant US ally in the area, to accept more Palestinians. Trump said that he wants Palestinians to be housed in Egypt, which borders Gaza, as well as Jordan.
