Before Delhi elections, Arvind Kejriwal accused Haryana of poisoning Yamuna water
New Delhi: Police announced on Tuesday that Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), had been charged in relation to his claims that the Haryana government had “poisoned” the Yamuna water, one day before the Delhi Assembly elections.
The Shahabad Police Station in Kurukshetra, Haryana, has filed a complaint against Kejriwal in accordance with the court’s orders under many provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS), 2024, including provisions 192, 196, 197, and 299, officials said.
“Per the court’s directive, the complaint has been filed at the Shahabad police station. The inquiry has begun, and when more information becomes available, we will act. This media was informed by Satish Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Shahabad.
Harsh Malhotra, the Minister of State (MoS), responded to the situation by accusing Kejriwal of attempting to deflect attention from “real issues.”
“AAP and Arvind Kejriwal have no development to talk about during their 10-year regime; they never spoke on development during their campaign because they didn’t do any development,” he said, making fun of the former chief minister of Delhi. They couldn’t even provide clean water. In 2020, Arvind Kejriwal said that he would not get re-elected in 2025 if he didn’t clean the Yamuna River. An FIR should be filed in response to the claims that the Haryana government poisoned the Yamuna River. He is attempting to distract people from pressing problems.
The AAP is held accountable after Kejriwal accused the BJP-led Haryana government of “poisoning” the Yamuna water and delivering it to Delhi in order to cause “people to die.”
In a previous letter to the Election Commission, Arvind Kejriwal made grave accusations against Nayab Singh Saini, the chief minister of Haryana.
The raw water being delivered to Delhi from Haryana has ‘unprecedented and alarmingly’ high levels of ammonia pollution, according to Kejriwal. He said in the letter that the ammonia levels began to rise rapidly on January 15th (around 3.2 ppm on that day) and reached 7 ppm a few days later.
In response to Kejriwal’s claims that the Haryana government had “poisoned” the national capital’s water supply, Chief Minister Saini later said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had provided 8500 crore to construct a sewage treatment plant (STP), but it had never been completed.
The Haryana chief minister brought two jars of Yamuna water, one from Wazirabad in Delhi and the other from Palla Ghat, which is the boundary between Delhi and Haryana.
He said that the quality of the water taken from Wazirabad and the water tested at Palla differed significantly.
On Wednesday, voters will cast ballots for the Delhi assembly.
