White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticizes USAID
Washington DC: On Monday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre criticized the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), citing projects such as a transgender opera in Colombia, a DEI musical in Ireland, and USD 1.5 million for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs in Serbia, calling them “wasteful spending of American taxpayer dollars.”
Her comments followed US President Donald Trump’s appointment of Secretary of State Marco Rubio as USAID’s acting administrator, confirming the State Department’s de facto ownership of the humanitarian organization.

According to Levitt, “If you look at the waste and abuse that has run through USAID over the past several years, these are some of the insane priorities that the organization has been spending money on—USD 1.5 million to advance DEI in Serbia’s workplaces, USD 70,000 for the production of a DEI musical in Ireland, USD 47,000 for a transgender opera in Colombia, and USD 32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru.”
“As an American taxpayer, I don’t want my money going towards this crap, and I know the American people don’t want to either,” she said. And that’s just what President Trump has urged Elon Musk to do. to rid our federal government of fraud, waste, and abuse.
In a notable statement, Elon Musk, the American tech entrepreneur, referred to USAID as a “criminal organization” and said that it was “time for it to die.”
Musk said, “USAID is a criminal organization,” in a post on X. It’s time for it to end.
The United States is experiencing a “constitutional crisis,” according to USAID representative Ilhan Omar, who represents Minnesota’s 5th congressional district. He cautioned that President Trump’s actions constitute the start of “dictatorship.”
“America is experiencing a really depressing day. A constitutional crisis is now underway. On day one, we discussed Trump’s desire to rule like a dictator, and now we find ourselves in this situation. According to Omar, this is how a dictatorship starts.
She tweeted, “Unelected billionaire Elon Musk is not wasting any time in abusing the power he purchased with $290 million by dismantling USAID, a program that has saved millions of lives worldwide. This choice will result in the deaths of actual individuals who rely on this vital assistance to get food, housing, and medical treatment for survival.”
According to CNN, over 60 top USAID employees were placed on leave last week after being accused of attempting to get around the presidential order limiting foreign assistance. When no proof of misconduct was found, another senior official was placed on leave for trying to undo that decision.
