“The political-security cabinet updated the goals of the war this evening so that they include the following section: the safe return of the residents of the north to their homes,” Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.

Since Hamas’s October 7 assault launched a conflict in the Gaza Strip, Israeli troops and the Lebanese armed organization, which is supported by Iran, have traded almost daily attacks.

According to Hezbollah, the effort is in favor of its ally, Palestine.

While Israeli authorities maintain that they cannot let terrorists stay in the border region in southern Lebanon, Hezbollah leaders have said that the organization would disband if a truce in Gaza was achieved.

Hundreds of people, mostly combatants, have died in Lebanon as a result of the conflict, along with scores of Israeli troops and civilians.

Tens of thousands of people have also been forced to evacuate their houses due to the violence on both sides.

A visiting US ambassador was informed by Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Monday that “military action” was the “only way left to ensure the return of Israel’s northern communities to their homes.”.
