Arab Parliament stresses need to localize artificial intelligence technology industry in Arab countries
Cairo: The President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, emphasized the need for localizing the artificial intelligence technology sector in Arab nations. In order to stay up with the intense global competition in this sector, he urged the development of strategies and the allocation of the required financial and human resources. He also urged the safe use of this technology in a way that is consistent with Arab nations’ ethical and cultural norms.
In the presence of diplomatic, academic, and specialized figures, the President of the Arab Parliament gave the keynote address at the opening of the Arab Dialogue Circle on “Artificial Intelligence in the Arab World: Innovative Applications and Ethical Challenges,” which was organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Arab League. The event began today at the General Secretariat of the Arab League’s headquarters.
Al Yamahi stated in his speech that the establishment of an innovative and sustainable Arab artificial intelligence system necessitates a solid collaboration between the public and private sectors as well as a strong legal and legislative framework that maintains a balance between ethical responsibility and technological innovation.
