NCP-SCP leader Jitendra Awhad criticised Union Budget 2025 and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman

Thane: Jitendra Awhad, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SCP), attacked Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the Union Budget 2025 on Sunday, claiming that the budget only benefits Maharashtra during election seasons and that attempts to boost the state’s economy “do not seem to be successful.”

“The budget is only advantageous during Maharashtra elections. Their opinions on the budget vary. “It appears that Nirmala Sitharaman’s attempts to boost the economy are failing,” Awhad said during a news conference.

Awhad also took issue with the state government’s decision to exclude eggs from schoolchildren’s midday meals.

Because they contain protein, eggs are given to the body to help strengthen it. “They (Mahayuti) should be aware of the potential health risks of eating sweets like jalebi and basundi,” he stated.

Awhad also protested the scheme’s termination by bringing eggs to the Thane District Magistrate on January 31.

Sanjay Raut, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), also attacked the Union Budget, saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government’s budgets were all electoral packages. He said that the budget’s main focus this time was Bihar.

“Every budget of the Modi administration is an electoral package, and Bihar is about to have elections. They have given the state the most money this time around since Bihar is holding an election,” Raut told reporters.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman promised a number of incentives for Bihar, where assembly elections are scheduled for later this year, in her budget statement on Saturday.

In addition to building a brownfield airport in Bihta and increasing the capacity of Patna Airport, she said that greenfield airports will be created in Bihar.

Additionally, she emphasized the Western Kosi Canal ERM project in Bihar’s Mithilanchal district.

“Financial support will be provided for the Western Kosi Canal ERM project benefitting a large number of farmers cultivating over 50,000 hectares of land in the Mithilanchal region of Bihar,” she said.
