Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the budget should be in the interest of the people
New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a businessman and the spouse of Wayanad Congress MP, said he had “very little expectations” from the government and was skeptical of the Union Budget 2025 on Saturday. He said that the Union Budget ought to serve the interests of the people.
“We have very little expectations from the government,” Vadra told the media report. I want to listen to people and have Nirmala Sitharaman among them. Inflation has been the main problem for a while, and people are having a lot of problems, including unemployment. Kumbh continues, but rail and airline tickets have gone up as well.
“The public interest should guide the Union Budget. “I believe that the budget should be in the best interests of the nation and its citizens, and it is not about the BJP, Congress, or any other party,” Vadra said.
Congress leader Sandeep Dixit said earlier today that the governing party has not accomplished anything significant in the ten to eleven years that they have been presenting the Union Budget.
“We have no expectations from the budget,” Dikshit told the media report. For ten or eleven years, they have been presenting it, but they haven’t accomplished anything significant. We just need to see how many dimensions they brought to let their large capitalist pals unwind. Given that Delhi is holding elections, they could attempt to entice voters with certain promises.
At 11 a.m. today, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will deliver her record-breaking eighth straight budget before the Lok Sabha. The government’s economic objectives, proposed income and spending plans, tax changes, and other noteworthy announcements will all be included in the budget address.
The Economic Survey, which was presented to Parliament yesterday, predicted that India’s GDP will expand by 6.3% to 6.8% in the next fiscal year 2025–2026.
The country’s economic fundamentals are still sound, according to the poll, which was presented the day before the union budget. These are bolstered by private consumption, fiscal consolidation, and a steady external account.
It said that the government intends to prioritize capital goods, micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs), and research and development (R&D) in order to support long-term industrial growth. The goals of these initiatives are to increase global competitiveness, productivity, and innovation.
“With a healthy external account, balanced fiscal consolidation, and steady private spending, the foundations of the domestic economy are still strong. We anticipate growth in FY26 to be between 6.3% and 6.8% based on the sum of these factors,” the statement said.
According to the poll, the seasonal drop in vegetable prices and the start of the Kharif crop are likely to reduce food inflation in Q4 FY25. In the first half of FY26, a strong Rabi crop is also anticipated to contribute to the control of food prices. On the other hand, inflation is threatened by unfavorable weather patterns and growing global food prices.
