Speaker Mike Johnson shows ‘behind the scenes activity’ ahead of US President Donald Trump’s swearing-in
Washington, DC: On Monday, US Speaker of the House Mike Johnson revealed the “behind the scenes activity” leading up to US President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
In a video that was uploaded on X, Johnson showed off the Capitol’s magnificence and expressed his understanding of the feelings of those who were unable to attend the inaugural event.
A video that Johnson posted with the message, “Tomorrow begins a new Golden Age in America!” featured the inside of the US Capitol dome.

“Hello everyone, this is Mike Johnson, the speaker. We are in the rotunda of the people’s house, just outside. There’s a lot of activity going on here for the inauguration of our 47th president, as you can see as we pan about,” he remarked.
Johnson said that because of the “fierce” weather on the day of the inauguration, the ceremony would be held inside.
“Here, we had to kind of call an audible. Outside, the weather is rather severe. Tomorrow is going to be much worse. I am aware that many people are disappointed since they were hoping to visit that national mall.
Hundreds of thousands of people would have been there, but this was the only option. Additionally, I believe that everyone’s best interests are served by the weather, as President Trump said. However, I just intended to give you a quick tour of this stage in the rotunda. I’m sure a lot of you have been here before. Normally, this is open and blank,” he said.
Johnson also praised the efforts of the personnel, who made several preparations during the course of the previous day.
“They spent around twenty-four hours building this complete equipment. The staff did a fantastic job calling this audible to accomplish this. This hasn’t been done this way since Ronald Reagan’s administration in 1985, forty years ago. However, they tell me this one will be much more spectacular,” he said.
Johnson indicated the stunning roof design and the door, saying he would be escorting the president-elect from there.
“So tomorrow, I’ll be taking the President out here for a beautiful day and the start of a new American golden era. The Capitol structure. The most recognizable emblem in the whole globe is this Capitol Dome. It acknowledges and represents freedom to everyone. And tomorrow, we will commemorate the inauguration of Donald J. Trump, our 47th president, and our wonderful nation. We can’t wait. I know a lot of you will be here in spirit, but you can watch along on TV. May you be blessed. “Go, America,” he said.
Trump shifted his planned inaugural event inside, according to Al Jazeera, as forecasters forecasted one of the coldest inauguration days in recent memory.
“The country is experiencing an Arctic blast. Trump stated on his site, Truth Social, “I don’t want to see people hurt or injured in any way.”
However, on Saturday (local time), a large number of his fans braved the freezing arctic vortex to see the first activities before his swearing-in ceremony.
Wearing “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hats, a number of fans were seen photographing the fireworks at Trump National Golf Club.
