California: Vice President Kamala Harris made a significant revelation at Tuesday’s debate about her gun ownership, which surprised a lot of people but was purposefully made to deflect criticism from Republicans. A White House source claims that Harris has kept her pistol safely hidden at her California home, where she keeps it for personal protection.

Harris said during the discussion, “We’re not taking away anybody’s guns, so stop with the continuous lying about this stuff.” She was responding to Republican accusations that Democrats want to seize guns.

Harris said in 2019 after giving some thought to her own motivations for gun ownership: “I am a gun owner, and I own a gun for probably the reason a lot of people do—for personal protection. I was a prosecutor by profession.”

Harris’s admission is a calculated attempt to reconcile her advocacy of more stringent gun control laws with gun owners’ worries. She and many other Democrats support policies like assault weapon prohibitions and universal background checks, but Republicans claim that these attempts violate the Second Amendment.
