Nambi Narayanan expressed happiness over the successful docking of two satellites under the Spadex project

Thiruvananthapuram: Nambi Narayanan, a former ISRO scientist, expressed pride on Thursday after two satellites in the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) project successfully docked. According to him, docking would be necessary for all upcoming space missions, and since it was accomplished gradually, India seems to have mastered this technology.

“I’m happy as a result. All of us have been dreaming of it for years. Only three countries—China, the United States, and Russia—have accomplished this, and we are now the fourth. It was a prerequisite for ISRO’s upcoming missions, especially the Gaganyaan and Chandrayaan-4 missions, which are scheduled for around 2028. We will have to do docking for space missions with every subsequent mission. We must make it flawless. We must be technologically proficient. Since we accomplished it gradually, it seems that we have united,” Narayanan told ANI.

On Thursday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his best wishes as ISRO accomplished a historic milestone by successfully completing the docking of two satellites. According to him, the SpaDeX project’s success served as a springboard for upcoming space missions.

India has completed the long-awaited satellite docking, making it the fourth nation to do so, ISRO stated Thursday morning. “India became the fourth nation to successfully accomplish space docking. Kudos to the whole crew! India deserves congratulations,” ISRO wrote on X.

According to Union Minister Jitendra Singh, this opens the door for the successful completion of large-scale upcoming missions like Chandrayaan 4 and the Bharatiya Antriksha Station.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, emphasized that India is now the fourth nation to carry out such a mission, calling it a proud occasion for the nation.

Mylswamy Annadurai, a former ISRO scientist, stated that the Chandrayaan-4 mission will be made possible by the successful completion of the docking procedure as part of the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) project.
“The success of the docking process will also help when the space station comes as part of the Indian space program,” Annadurai said, congratulating the ISRO crew. Additionally, he said, it will aid in the removal of debris.

The team was also congratulated by V Narayanan, the chairman of ISRO, the chairman of the Space Commission, and the secretary of the Department of Space (DOS). ISRO reported that two satellites were successfully controlled as a single entity after docking.

The spacecraft was successfully captured when the SpaDeX docking process successfully maneuvered from a 15-meter hold point to a 3-meter hold point.
