Responding appropriately to the Pakistani Rangers, the Indian forces replied against their unjustified shooting from the opposite side of the Line of Control. On the other hand, there was no instant information of any deaths or injuries on the other side.

“An incidence of unjustified fire from across the border occurred in the Akhnoor region at about 2.35 am, to which the BSF appropriately retaliated. A BSF official was cited by the media as stating, “One BSF personnel sustained injuries in Pakistani firing.”

He said that Indian forces on the LoC and along the International Border have been placed on high alert in response to the Pakistani attack.

Notably, since the two nations extended the ceasefire agreement in 2021, there have been very few instances of ceasefire breaches. But last year, a BSF member was killed in a Pakistani fire in the Ramgarh area, marking the first Indian fatality in more than three years.

As Jammu and Kashmir is ready to hold its first Assembly election in ten years, the Pakistani army has violated the ceasefire once again.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the elections will take place in three stages. The first phase will start on September 18 and the second and third phases on September 25 and October 1, respectively.

On October 8, the votes will be counted and the results will be announced.
