US Elections: Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are getting ready for their much awaited debate as Election Day approaches. 2024: Biden And Trump’s First Debate

In the first presidential debate of 2024, Donald Trump and President Joe Biden squared off. The contest was stressful since there was no clear winner.

Even though he spoke first, Biden faltered throughout the discussion, tripping over his words and losing chances to make his arguments. This was particularly evident when he attempted to criticize Trump’s record on matters such as the 2020 election or the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Trump, however, took advantage of the occasion to highlight Biden’s shortcomings, especially with regard to immigration and the economy.

As for Trump’s acceptance of the results of the November election, an Al Jazeera report states that he repeated false claims about the 2020 election being rigged in response to tough questions about whether he would accept the results. Trump said he would only honor the results if they were “fair” and “free.”

How Is Trump Getting Ready For The Discussion?

Donald Trump, the former president, has approached the debate preparation in a less formal manner. As per CBS News, Trump has been examining his policy stances with advisors and spending time interacting with voters and media, according to people acquainted with his workings.

Trump advisor Jason Miller likened the candidate’s debate approach to that of great boxers, stating, “Trying to prepare for Floyd Mayweather or Muhammad Ali is like trying to prepare for debating Trump.” You have no idea how or from what direction he will approach you.

According to a CBS News report, Miller stressed that Trump is likely to hold Kamala Harris accountable for her political past, notably bringing up topics like the border, international instability, and the economy.

“I’ve been preparing all my life for this debate,” Trump said during a recent appearance on Good Morning New Hampshire. We discuss it, but there isn’t much you can do about it. He said that he was more than prepared to face Harris because of his many years of business and political expertise.

How Is Harris Getting Ready For The Discussion?

In her preparations, Vice President Kamala Harris has been approaching things more methodically. For debate practices, which included lengthy simulated arguments with an advisor portraying Donald Trump, she flew to Pittsburgh last week. Harris is also rehearsing in a set that mimics the discussion setting.

In light of the debate regulations, which include having the candidates’ microphones muted while they aren’t speaking, her team has been modifying their approach.

Harris and her staff had to change course from their original plan to confront Trump directly, opting instead to provide a clear presentation of Harris’s programs and draw comparisons with his.

On CNN’s State of the Union, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who assisted Harris in getting ready for her 2020 debate against Mike Pence, complimented her debating abilities. Buttigieg said, “She is a very focused and disciplined leader.”

He continued by saying that dealing with Trump on stage would need “superhuman focus and discipline” since he often converts policy arguments into spectacles centered around himself rather than in-depth conversations.

This debate—which ABC News will sponsor at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia—may be the last chance for Trump and Harris to face off face-to-face.

After weeks of ambiguity and conjecture over the debate’s scheduling, both candidates have officially declared their attendance, paving the way for a crucial juncture in the campaign as the country approaches Election Day.

Voters will be able to see clearly in this last stretch of the campaign how each contender is presenting themselves when Trump and Harris square off in a debate that will scrutinize their performance, personalities, and policies.
